Man tased after allegedly drawing pellet gun on police at Great Falls Housing Authority

A Great Falls man was tazed by law enforcement officers on Tuesday after he allegedly drew a pellet gun pistol on them at his front step, according to court documents.

Arthur Lynn Bailey, 23, faces five charges: felony assault on a peace officer, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, trespass to property and disorderly conduct.

A Great Falls police officer arrived at a home on Chowen Springs Loop on Tuesday for back up as officers prepared to make contact with an "aggravated male," identified in reports as Bailey. One of the Great Falls Housing Authority employees had let the initial officer know Bailey was standing outside his office yelling profanities toward the officer.

The two officers then went to Bailey's apartment and peered inside a window. According to police reports, they saw Bailey inside smoking something with a glass pipe.

When they knocked on his front door, the housing authority officer had his stun gun drawn, held near his hip and pointed at the ground. Bailey opened the door and the officer yelled "Gun!" according to court documents, and deployed his Taser. The officer reported Bailey had pointed a gun directly at his face.

The Taser probes landed on the left side of Bailey's chest and his thumb, reports state.

After Bailey was in custody, officers learned the pistol was a pellet gun.

According to court documents, Bailey agreed to speak to officers without an attorney present and admitted to having the gun in his hand and to smoking spice before he came to the door.

Prosecutors requested his bail be set at $25,000.
