HEARTBROKEN Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas has shared a poignant drawing by his eight-year-old son of his late wife.
The 44-year-old said he was "crushed with indescribable pain" as he announced the death of his wife Gemma last month.
Since the devastating news he has shared a number of touching tributes to her from himself and their son Ethan.
One picture on Instagram of the three of them was captioned: "Team Thomas. Three has become two. Heartbroken and suffocating with grief."
Another showed a picture drawn by the eight-year-old of his mum, next to which Ethan wrote: "Best mum ever!!!"
Simon said on Instagram: "One week one. One brave, amazing son."
Gemma died in hospital on November 24 surrounded by her friends and family.
Simon wrote on Twitter on November 27: "Today I am crushed with indescribable pain.
"Just three days after falling ill with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, my dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends.
"If you are a prayer - pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits. Thank you."
Hundreds of tributes have flooded in for the mum-of-one.
Gemma studied at the University of Sheffield before going on to work at the electoral commission.
Norfolk-born Thomas joined Blue Peter in 1999, replacing Richard Bacon, and worked alongside the likes of Konnie Huq, Matt Baker and Zoe Salmon during his six years on the BBC children's show.
He left for Sky Sports in 2005 and has worked on a number of projects, most recently presenting live Premier League coverage for the channel.
Mr Thomas is currently taking time off work and has received a flood of supportive messages from colleagues past and present and from the world of football.
What is Acute Myloid Leukaemia?
ACUTE Myloid Leukaemia is a rapid and aggressive cancer.
It occurs when stem cells in the bone marrow produce too many immature white blood cells.
This type of leukaemia is extremely rare, affecting only 2,600 people in the UK each year.
Treatment usually needs to begin immediately after diagnosis. Chemotherapy is used to kill off the leukaemia cells, but in some cases radiotherapy may all be needed.
People aged over 65 are most at risk of developing the disease.
