The process of using pen and ink to make a drawing is practically as old as art itself, dating back to 7th and 8th century China. It is one of the most visually intense and compositionally complex forms of drawing. At the same time, aside from pencil, pen-and-ink drawing is probably the most portable, convenient and low-cost form of art making. All that is needed to be ready to create is a pen and a piece of paper.
Local artist Edilu Nehrbas will teach Pen & Ink Techniques and Applications classes at the Rehoboth Art League. This series of four classes is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, Thursdays, Jan. 4 to 25. Through exercise and practice of pen-and-ink techniques such as feathering, hatching, crosshatching and more, students will create textured drawing compositions using a variety of subject matter. The cost of this class series is $115 for members and $150 for nomembers.
For more information or to register, go to rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408, Ext. 112. All classes will be held at the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.
