Weekly Run podcast: Donovan Mitchell is drawing a crowd at home and on the road

Donovan Mitchell is something else.

The Utah Jazz rookie just dropped 34 points in Sacramento, joining Blake Griffin and Joel Embiid as the only players since 2010 to have five 30-plus point performances in the first 50 games of their NBA careers. And because we’re talking about Mitchell here, a few of those points came on jaw-dropping slam dunks.

These are just a couple of the reasons the guard is becoming an attraction even when the Jazz are on the road.

On this episode of the Weekly Run, The Tribune’s Utah Jazz podcast, we discuss Mitchell’s rising star, locker room frustrations and Thabo Sefolosha’s injury.

A rundown of the podcast:

At 2:15 • The Jazz won in Sacramento but, man, are the Kings bad.

At 3:45 • Donovan Mitchell had another terrific game, including a pair of highlight-reel dunks. And the rookie seems to be drawing a crowd even on the road. “I’ve never seen this with another Jazz player my entire life,” Tony Jones says.

At 8:00 • The Jazz locker room has been a tense place of late. How have the losses and trade rumors impacted morale?

At 12:45 • The NBA is always high drama. We talk Clippers, Rockets, tunnels and Rudy Gobert’s response to fake tough guys.

At 15:30 • Where will the Jazz miss Thabo Sefolosha the most?

At 18:40 • Danté Exum possibly could play this season. That would be good for him and the Jazz, who have decisions to make on his future.

At 22:30 • The highlights of Kyle Goon’s first long road trip as a beat reporter and Michael Jordan’s terrible fashion sense.
