MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Next week's U.P. Builders Show is featuring a drawing for a playhouse. Built by The Professional Women in Building organization, the playhouse includes a chalkboard, table, curtains and a treasure box. The project took about five months to complete, with donations from local businesses like The Window Store.
The proceeds go towards a scholarship for females graduating high school, who have plans to attend a post-secondary school in the U.P. and enroll in a trades program.
"College is expensive," Professional Women in Building member, Tonia Lintula said. "It's always good to have a little extra help... It's definitely, I would say been a male industry for many years and definitely ya' know, changing that aspect and just looking to encourage more women into that and look for a career."
Tickets for the playhouse drawing are $5 each. You can purchase them at the U.P. Builders Show, happening March 9th-11th at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
