A suburban man is a lot richer after winning big on a Powerball ticket last month.
Robert Schuit, a 91-year-old Oak Brook native, won a cool $1 million during a March 21 Powerball drawing, matching five numbers on the ticket.
According to the Illinois Lottery, Schuit has been playing Lottery games since the drawings started in 1974, but this is the first time he’s won a substantial prize.
“Now I have some cushion,” he said.
Schuit, who is retired, plans to remodel his house with his winnings. He purchased the ticket at a Westmont 7-Eleven, which will receive a bonus check for $10,000 for selling it.
