CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) - The estimated jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing has climbed to $493 million -- the fifth highest jackpot in the game’s history.
Lottery officials said strong sales pushed Friday’s jackpot higher than originally estimated, and no one had the winning numbers for the huge jackpot. Two tickets worth $1 million were sold in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
Mega Millions' next drawing will be Tuesday at 11 p.m. Eastern time.
The cash option for the jackpot is $296 million.
On March 30, 2012, a record Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million was shared, with winning tickets sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland, according to the lottery's website.
