The Padres are checking in on Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard, reports Dennis Lin of The Athletic.
James Wagner of the New York Times reported on July 19 that the Padres like Syndergaard. San Diego is looking at Syndergaard part of their "wide-ranging search" for starting pitching help, according to Lin.
However, SNY's Andy Martino has reported that a trade involving Syndergaard or Jacob deGrom is unlikely at this point.
Syndergaard landed back on the disabled list over the weekend with hand, foot, and mouth disease. He made two starts since returning from a separate DL stint due to a finger injury.
Syndergaard has a 2.89 ERA through 13 starts this season for the Mets.
