'We won't dip into the past' - All Blacks not drawing inspiration from 2013 or Chicago for Irish Test

The All Blacks are heading into this weekend's contest against Ireland solely focused on looking forward after telling media today past results between the two sides mean little to them.

Veteran players Ryan Crotty and Dane Coles - who featured in both the 2013 last-minute win in Dublin and the historic 2016 loss in Chicago - said Sunday morning's Test already has enough motivation without looking back.

"We can talk about history and stuff like that but it's all about this week," Coles said.

"Both teams have got a lot of drama - in 2013 obviously we pulled out that magic win and in 2016 they got us but those things aren't going to help you this week.

"We won't be dipping into the past for extra motivation because there's plenty already this week to get the job done."

Crotty agreed.

"The leaders will drive the mindset this week in where we need to get to.

"Early on, we're still learning, we're still previewing, still learning from last week but once the back end of the week comes around and starts to ramp up, you begin to feel that intensity."

The All Blacks and Ireland square off at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Sunday at 8am NZT.
