Banksy drawing, worth millions, of sad-faced girl stolen in Paris - USA TODAY

In an early morning heist, three hooded thieves stole a Banksy drawing of a sad-faced girl that had been drawn on the emergency door of the Bataclan concert hall in memory of a deadly terrorist attack in 2015 that killed 90 people.

Surveillance cameras showed the thieves removing the image, worth millions, that the anonymous street artist had stenciled in white on the door last year.

"This silhouette was made by the artist for free, it was an altruistic gesture to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack and their loved ones, and I find it very sad that people have grabbed it without thinking about it all represents," the mayor of Paris' 11th district, François Vauglin, told French TV station LCI.

Police found a screwdriver near the scene, LCI reported. A waitress reported seeing a white truck and three suspicious individuals nearby.

The anonymous British artist had painted it overnight on the door. He later acknowledged it as his work, along with a number of other Paris street paintings, the Telegraph reports.
