2020 long shot Steve Bullock drawing Hollywood A-list support - New York Post

Some Hollywood bigwigs are already starry-eyed over Democratic presidential long-shot, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock.

Actor Jeff Bridges, DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg and Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun are a few of the bold-faced entertainment industry names lining up to support Bullock, who drew flak from the RNC Tuesday after he announced his 2020 intentions, for his ties to a former Mayor Bill de Blasio aide accused of sexual harassment.

“He’s a good man and a great leader,” Bridges recently declared to The Daily Beast.

Bullock says Bridges encouraged him to throw his hat in the ring, and that he’s had “great conversations” with Katzenberg and Braun, according to the outlet. Katzenberg, Braun and TV producer Matt Pyken have all made donations to the Montana governor’s Big Sky Values PAC.

“I know Steve as a man and a friend,” “Smallville” actress Cassidy Freeman told The Daily Beast. “He makes the time to get to know people. I’m excited to see what he can do.”

Freeman says she was won over by Bullock’s efforts to get to know people. His support for abortion rights and marriage equality are also a selling point with Dems.

The challenger will have his work cut out for him in courting stars, however.

Hollywood executive Todd Quinn has hosted meet-and-greets for Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, and Kamala Harris. Former HBO executive James Costos, meanwhile, threw a fundraiser for Joe Biden last week that raked in roughly $700,000.

Bullock became the 22nd Democrat to wade into the 2020 presidential election on Tuesday. Despite opposition from his own party, who would rather see Bullock run for a Senate seat, the candidate hopes to shine a light on dark money spending.
