UPDATE: Mega Millions ticket worth $1M sold in N.J. as jackpot climbs to $252 million

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery has jumped to $229 million with a cash option of $140.3 million.

The winning numbers were: 24, 37, 41, 61, 70. The Mega Ball drawn was 20. The Megaplier was 3x.

No one has hit the Mega Millions jackpot since March 12, when Hira Singh of Shawnee, Kansas won the $50 million top prize with a ticket he bought at QuikTrip in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, 13 twice-weekly drawings have been held without a jackpot winner.

No one hit the jackpot for Friday’s $212 million drawing. There were also no second-prize, $1 million tickets sold nationally.

In New Jersey, a ticket sold at Quick Chek on Bordentown Avenue in the Parlin section of Sayreville matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball and is worth $10,000.

Friday’s winning numbers were 9, 17, 23, 30 and 46. The Mega Ball was 10, and with a Megaplier of 4X.

Last month, a 54-year-old man who lives in Alpha, Warren County hit the $273 million Mega Millions drawing.

A Mega Millions ticket costs $2. The odds of a ticket matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. It’s a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
