Gagnon Museum unveils new drawing exhibit - myfox47

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) –  Never-before-seen pieces of artwork from a Rochester sculptor are on display to the public.

The Charles E. Gagnon Museum and Sculpture Garden opened a new exhibit Sunday featuring some of Gagnon’s figure drawings.

Gagnon’s widow and director of the museum, Arlyn Gagnon, found hundreds of drawings in his studio after his death in 2012, and chose several to feature this summer.

Arlyn says many of the drawings use just one line but have much more to them than meets the eye.

“The final drawings, the ones that I had found that are unsigned, are usually one line that captures a movement, but it’s so strong he doesn’t need more than that,” she said. “Art’s communication. It’s language and as a viewer you have the intelligence to finish the drawing.”

The exhibit is open through August 18th.

The museum is also planning a 30th birthday party for the Peace Fountain in Downtown Rochester, one of Gagnon’s creations.

That will be June 22nd from 2-5 p.m.
