Members and guests of the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts got together over the weekend to draw names in their Great Art Giveaway fundraiser.
According to Fine Arts Committee Chair Pat Callahan “The Great Art Giveaway has been going on for several years. We ask artists in the community to donate artwork for the good of the art center and the good of the community. So this year, we had thirteen artists who donated their work.”
Raffle tickets were then sold and names were drawn Saturday night. “We also rely on the Great Art Giveaway as one of our major fundraisers of the year. We sold a wonderful amount of tickets this year, so we’re very happy with the response.”
Some of the prizes ranged from a painting by Frank Wilcox, to a Crazy Chair by Garlyn MaGinnis. “Bart Carrig, a photographer who travels worldwide donated a piece, as well as Chris VanMeter who donated one as well. Celia Clark, who is nationally known, had a piece here as well,” said Callahan.
