Josh McDaniels will have no shortage of potential suitors should he depart the Patriots yet again, as the Patriot offensive coordinator has reportedly drawn interest from multiple teams.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns have already requested permission to speak with McDaniels, while the Giants and Panthers have done the same. While the McDaniels-Browns interest is nothing new (McDaniels is from Ohio and it's believed that he was high on Baker Mayfield during his draft year), Schefter even mentioned McDaniels as a 'prime' candidate for the Giants, who dismissed Pat Shurmur after a 9-23 run over two seasons.
But the 43-year-old McDaniels had no interest in touching any questions about his future during a Monday conference call.
"I’m not even aware of any of that stuff at this point," McDaniels, who left his post with the Pats for the head coaching gig with the Colts (but then opted out and returned to the Patriots) back in 2018, said. "When that stuff is presented to me or discussed with me or whatever, then we’ll deal with it appropriately.
"Honestly, it’s pretty easy for me in terms of my formula: I’m the offensive coordinator of the Patriots. We have a lot of work to do, we can improve in a lot of areas to try to get ready for this week – our biggest game of the year against, certainly, the best team we’ve played since a postseason game.
"Our players deserve that, our coaches deserve that, and that’s what they’re going to get from me."
