Holly and Phil couldn't their laughter on the show today

And it didn’t take long for Holly and Phillip to have one of their famous laughing fits in front of the camera.

Phil shrieked with laughter as he showed one drawing of a children’s idea of a ‘sweet invention’ – named ‘the ball licker’ – while Holly put her head in her hands as an another drawing of a giraffe flashed up on the screen.

She exclaimed: "That wins!"

Viewers of the popular show - which has been nominated at this year's National TV Awards - found the segment just as amusing, sharing their love for the drawings on Twitter.

One wrote: “Oh my god absolutely crying at these drawings."

Another added: “Loving the rude drawings the giraffe legs omg."

And proving it really is “the gift that keeps on giving” – as described by Holly – the hosts shared more drawings later on before speaking to Matthew Wright and Trisha Goddard, who found the pictures just as funny.

One of the illustrations featured a questionable drawing of The Greatest Showman and his microphone. Another appeared to show a mermaid that verged on inappropriate.

The popular segment first aired in July last year and has become the show’s most watched interactive clip from the past decade, pulling in an impressive 30 million views online.

The New Year has been full of laughs for Holly and Phil, who were also left in stitches earlier in the week when one viewer won a holiday - to her home town of Edinburgh.

The show’s brand new game, which gives viewers the opportunity to win either a UK break, a holiday in Europe or an extra special “star holiday”, didn’t quite go to plan.

They were forced to announce that caller Anne had won a two-night stay at a hotel - in her home town.

After erupting into a fit of giggles, Holly and Phil offered Anne another spin before Phil eventually decided to move it himself and gift her a trip to Italy.
