The first Mega Millions drawing of 2020 on Friday night is worth an estimated $60 million with a cash option of $39.7 million.

Friday’s winning numbers were 37, 41, 42, 53 and 63. The Mega Ball drawn was 16 with a Megaplier of 2X.

A ticket sold in Mentor, Ohio for the Dec. 17 drawing hit the $375 million jackpot, the 31st largest prize in U.S. lottery history. It’s the 14th largest Mega Millions jackpot dating to the game’s inception in 2002.

If the winner chose the cash option, the prize will be $251.5 million before taxes.

No one hit Tuesday’s $50 million jackpot, though a $1 million ticket was bought in New York City at a Rite Aid on Madison Street in Lower Manhattan, officials said. That lucky ticket matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball.

In New Jersey, a pair of $10,000 tickets were sold - one at Stirling Fine Wines on Valley Road in Stirling, the other at SRK Convenience Store on Irving Street in Rahway. Each matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were 30, 44, 49, 53 and 56. The Mega Ball drawn was 11 with a Megaplier of 3X.

The top prize was won seven times last year, including once in New Jersey. Michael J. Weirsky, of Warren County, won the $273 million Mega Millions jackpot in the March 1, 2019 drawing.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each and in New Jersey must be bought by 10:45 p.m. on the evening of the drawing. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
