Lottery: Old Mega Millions tickets accidentally sold for last drawing

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Virginia Lottery said its aware of some issues some Mega Millions players faced this weekend.

They said if you bought a ticket on Friday, October 27 between 10:45 - 11:51 p.m. this applies to you.

As the Virginia Lottery was upgrading its gaming system and the Mega Millions game, an error occurred and a small number of tickets under the old game were produced and sold incorrectly in Virginia for about an hour.

All Mega Millions tickets sold during that time will be honored, though.

The price of the ticket and the price of the replacement ticket will be refunded to those players and any prices won by the original ticket will be honored by the Lottery.

Refunds and prize payments cannot be processed at Lottery retailers.

Make sure you contact the Lottery at 804-692-7778 or sign and fill out the information on the back of the ticket and mail to Virginia Lottery, P.O. Box 2489, Richmond, VA 23218.

The Virginia Lottery is encouraging anyone who bought tickets during this time to repurchase your ticket by 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 31 for that night's drawing.
