Drew Brees drawing TV interest as Saints decision looms - New York Post

If Drew Brees wants to hang up his cleats, he’ll have a chance to remain on television.

At least one TV network has reached out to the longtime Saints quarterback about becoming a game analyst, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reports it’s a non-ESPN network.

The Post’s Andrew Marchand recently reported that Brees, who turns 41 on Wednesday, is among a group of potentially retiring players ESPN would likely consider as it ponders shaking up its “Monday Night Football” broadcast.

However, Brees retiring would come as a surprise to Saints coach Sean Payton, who said on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” that he foresees Brees returning to the Saints for the 2020 NFL season.

Brees threw for 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns and four interceptions during the 2019 regular season while completing 74.3 percent of his passes across 11 games; he missed five games with a thumb injury. The Saints were eliminated by the Vikings last weekend in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.
