Virginia Lottery: Newport News man wins $200000 during Saturday 's Powerball drawing

A Newport News man won $200,000 during Saturday's Powerball drawing, the Virginia Lottery said in a press release.

Alvin Boling, of Newport News, purchased his winning ticket at the Tinee Giant located at 2722 Airline Boulevard in Portsmouth. He discovered his winning set of numbers (26-28-47-49-58, Powerball 3) while drinking coffee Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Virginia Lottery News.

“I just said, ‘Oh my goodness!’ and sat for a while,” he said. “There was no fanfare.”

Boling's winnings quadrupled from $50,000 to $200,000 because he spent extra money through the Power Play option. He told the Virginia Lottery News he plans to use his winning to pay bills and has no other immediate plans for his winnings.
