We are all still waiting to figure out exactly what the Fortnite mystery Cube has planned as it rolls toward its ultimate destination. We may not know what it will do (current theories include turning Loot Lake into lava, but who knows), but now it seems pretty clear what shape it’s going to make.
It is…drawing…itself.
As you can see from my brilliantly constructed map above, the Cube is currently planting runes in a shape that will ultimate be in its own image. I will give u/SpennyPerson credit for opening my eyes to this and having me make my own map, as I wouldn’t have caught it myself, but now the end result seems pretty obvious.
We are currently at five symbols planted on the ground, and we have seen eight total Cube symbols so far, appearing on the Cube itself as it shimmers in its purple, pulsing glow. If it plants eight symbols, that’s the number of points you need to form the three dimensional Cube in the image, and guess where the Cube is rolling now? Yup, that point at the south of Lazy Links, meaning this shape is definitely uh, taking shape.
What this means is that recent leaks may be wrong and the Cube’s final resting place may not be at the edge of Loot Lake, but at the north of Dusty Depot. But to plant a rune, it has to keep moving, so after that? Maybe it could roll back to the lake, or maybe it could roll into Dusty Divot where its Summoner, the Visitor, first landed in his meteorite pod.
Despite all these leaks, I still don’t think anyone really knows what’s going to happen with the Cube when all is said and done. Pretty much no one predicted what was going to happen with the rocket launch and the rifts, and I have to believe that Epic has managed to still hold on to a few secrets in terms of what they have planned for the Cube. Sure, maybe we’ll get Loot Lava Lake, but I’m guessing we’ll also get a lot of other stuff that we can’t possible predict.
The only thing we can predict right now is where the Cube is going. I would be amazed if it deviates from this path, though whether it goes south or southwest after Lazy Links is not yet clear. I’d guess it ends up at the center point, which also happens to be practically dead center of the entire map, lending credence to the theories that perhaps the Cube is going to transform everything, not just select zones. Given that Fortnite “transformation” events have continued to get bigger and bigger, I would not put it past Epic to do something on that scale, but I suppose we’ll have to see.
Anyway, I just thought this was a cool find, and I will continue to track the Cube until the bitter end, whatever that may be.
