The New York Knicks are exploring trade interest for recently acquired shooting guard Wesley Matthews, according to a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times.
Matthews was part of the trade of last week’s trade with the Dallas Mavericks centered on big man Kristaps Porzingis.
While the Knicks are shopping Matthews, “there are also several antsy suitors hoping Matthews makes it to the buyout market,” Stein reported.
He listed the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors as potential buyout suitors.
Matthews, 32, appeared in 45 games this season with the Mavericks and averaged 12.9 points and shot 37 percent on 3-pointers. So far he’s appeared in one game with the Knicks and scored five points.
Matthews is in the final year of an $18.6 million contract and will be a free agent at the end of the season.
