MENDOTA — The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce released a statement regarding the 50/50 drawing that was done after the 72nd annual Sweet Corn Festival.
Chamber officials posted a simulated video of the drawing to its Facebook page which quickly drew charges that the drawing had been rigged.
The statement clarifies the video was a recreation of the drawing done after the winners were notified and granted permission to the chamber to use their names on social media.
“MACC regrets any lack of clarity which arose with the posting of the simulated video and vows to refine the selection process so as to attempt to eliminate all questions and concerns about the integrity of the Mendota drawing,” according to the statement.
