Adam Vinatieri had a strong Sunday. 

Vinatieri knocked through four conversion kicks Sunday and added a field goal against the Jacksonville Jaguars, to much delight in Lucas Oil Stadium. 

The field goal was his 710th career attempt, passing Morten Andersen for the most in NFL history.

Vinatieri's season has been eventful, to say the least. It has had three distinct acts.

He was 3-of-8 overall (2-of-5 on PATs, 1-of-3 on field goals) over the first two weeks, prompting questions. Missed kicks played a role in the Colts' season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The issue appeared to subside over the next four games, when he made all 11 of his PATs and 7-of-8 field goals. The only miss was a 57-yard try just before halftime against Oakland. 

The past three games have brought back the questions: He's 1-of-4 on PATs and 6-of-8 on field goals. Misses influenced the Colts' past two games, losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins.

For the season, Vinatieri is 14-of-20 on PATs and 14-of-19 on field goals. The 46-year-old in his 24th season had an NFL career-best 2,656 points entering Sunday's game.
