The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery drawing has jumped to $226 million with a cash option of $154.3 million.

The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and televised on WABC-7 in the New York City area and Fox 29 in the Philadelphia area.

The jackpot was last hit on Sept. 24 when a Leander, Texas resident won the $227 million top prize. The winner, who chose the cash option and remained anonymous, took home $157,091,592.

Since then 17 drawings have been held without a top-prize winner, including on Friday when no one across the country hit the $208 million jackpot. There were also no second-prize, $1 million tickets sold. In New Jersey, a third-prize, $10,000 ticket was sold at Love’s Travel Stop on Route 206 south in Bordentown, Burlington County.

Friday’s winning numbers were: 7, 12, 17, 49 and 53. The Mega Ball drawn was 24 with a Megaplier of 4X.

The top prize has been won six times this year, including once in New Jersey. Michael J. Weirsky, of Warren County, won the $273 million Mega Millions jackpot in the March 1 drawing.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each and in New Jersey must be bought by 10:45 p.m. on the evening of the drawing. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
