Joel Embiid pulled off one of the most entertaining sequences of the NBA season on Monday night.

Embiid blocked a shot from the Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell, talked some trash, stared Mitchell down and drew a retaliation from the Utah guard.

The replays showed that Embiid appeared to exaggerate the force of Donovan’s shove, and after the game, Embiid admitted that in a refreshingly honest description of the sequence.

Embiid said:

“I blocked his shot and then I said something to him. Then he just got up and kind of fake shoved me and I flopped. Then he got a technical for it. So that was basically how it happened. But it’s all fun after the game. We shook hands.”

Players typically hate to admit that they flop, and flops often draw fines from the league. But Embiid shamelessly flopped there, got the technical foul called on his opponent, pumped up the crowd and helped his team win. He has to take credit for that.

Embiid couldn’t have handled that play any better. It was peak Process.
