The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s lottery drawing has increased to $60 million with a cash option of $42.5 million.
The winning numbers were: 25, 37, 39, 61 and 62. The Powerball was 11 with a Power Play of 3X.
While no one hit Wednesday’s $50 million jackpot, a second-prize ticket matching five numbers but not the Powerball was sold in California.
It’s valued at $7,054,356 as California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes - usually $1 million - offered in other participating states.
In New Jersey, a $50,000 ticket was purchased at ShopRite in the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 10, 12, 15, 19 and 56. The Powerball drawn was 19 with a Power Play of 2X.
The Powerball jackpot has been hit once so far this year. Someone who bought a ticket in Bonita Springs, Florida for the Jan. 29 drawing captured the $396.9 million top prize. The winnings have yet to be claimed.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while there’s about a 1 in 913,129 shot of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball is played on Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
